The wine was crafted from a southwest-facing heritage block of vines planted on our estate McLean Creek Road Vineyard in 1994 with cuttings hailing from Germany. The vineyard is comprised of alluvial and glacial deposits making up a mix of gravel and sandy loam and is well-suited to this variety, allowing us to craft a beautifully aromatic, food-friendly Gewürztraminer.

2021 was the year of the heat dome and fires. While presenting some difficult and challenging times the vintage created some great ripeness and fruit flavors. Smoke was definitely an issue and is slightly noticeable in a few wines from our home vineyard. Some blocks with lower lying areas more noticeable then the southern facing blocks with lots of slope.

The wines were tested for smoke taint and some have come in right on the edge of what is deemed to be perceptible. If you have a good nose you may pick this up in some wines and not be able to tell at all in others. We recommend pairing these wines with some Gouda or smoked salmon for some amazing pairings

Because the vintage was lower yield, this wine is limited to 6 bottles per purchase.
