Another fantastic review of our 2012 Pinot Noirs & Chards!

This week on gismondionwine.com Anthony Gismondi gives our 2012 Pinots & Chards some fantastic reviews! Here’s what Gismondi has to say about our new releases:

91 Points – Micro Cuvée Pinot Noir 2012

“Good cherry colour with smoky, lees, vanilla, tobacco leaf, compost, strawberry jam, barnyard, liquorice, celery salt, floral and light barnyard aromas. The top label Micro Cuvée is cleaner and its round, smooth palate with light tannins and juicy acidity is slightly fresher and finer than the two single vineyard pinots. Celery salt, carrot top, strawberry jam, raspberry, tobacco leaf, cedar, vanilla, meaty, chocolate and orange flavours. Good intensity but has some youthful tannins and acidity to tame on the finish. Give it 2-5 years”

91 Points – Micro Cuvée Chardonnay 2012

“Buttery, vanilla, spicy lees, baked apple, cream, fruit cocktail and peach aromas. Fresh, juicy, creamy, dry, slightly austere palate. Lemon custard, vanilla, light lees, nutty, salty, grapefruit rind, butterscotch, green apple skin. Youthful, tart finish that should improve over the next 2-5 years.”

90 Points – McLean Creek Chardonnay 2012

“Another good effort to follow up the 2011. We love the light nutty, toasted, butter and baked green apple nose flecked with citrus and honey aromas. Fresh, dry and juicy, the entry is slightly austere but finishes with rich textures. More cool, green apple, pear skin, nutty lees, spicy, lemon custard, butter and lanolin flavours. Still youthful, should improve over the next few years. Venturing down the complexity road like few of its competitors.”

89 Points – McLean Creek Road Pinot Noir 2012

“Meaty, cherry, peppery, barnyard, tobacco leaf, celery salt, light lees and carrot aromas. Dry, fresh, round, elegant palate with light tannins. Carrot top, meaty, barnyard, compost, celery, strawberry jam, peppery, leesy flavours with a light vanilla, coffee note. Needs a few years yet but drinkable with food.”

89 Points – Reimer Vineyard Pinot Noir 2012

“Light lees, tobacco leaf, plum, cherry jam, barnyard, vanilla, liquorice aromas with a savory, meaty note. Dry, fresh, juicy, slightly lean palate with light tannins but full. Cherry, liquorice, meaty, peppery, cool tea, celery salt, leesy flavours. Very youthful with good fruit but needs 2-4 years to soften up some of the more astringent tannins on the finish. Best now with charcuterie plates, spring vegetables and even goat cheese.”

88 Points – Tribute Series Chardonnay 2012

“Rind-y grapefruit, green apple skin aromas with light butterscotch and lanolin notes. Fresh, juicy, elegant, slightly soft palate with a touch of oiliness. Salty, nutty lees, green apple, lemon custard, light vanilla and guava flavours. Nice finesse in a lighter, fresh style. The Tribute Series is dedicated to a different Canadian that been outstanding in their field. In 2012 CBC broadcaster Kelly Hrudey is honoured.”
